Just Sitecore Things

It's the 3rd year in a line when I, I should say even "we", are starting Sitecore Hackathon. Last year in 2018 we have won this competition in xConnect module category with a team called "Las Vegans". This time we also tried to make everything to write something cool.

Team

In this year we agreed that we keep "LasVegans" name for the team. But one of our previous members couldn't attend in this year, so we have invited our friend Rafał Dołżyński. Hence we started competition in the below composition

Topic

After last year and winning the xConnect category, we wanted to change something so in this year we choose UI module category.

Our idea was to prepare special mechanism of tagging connected with NL services. We have extended default SXA approach to very manageable tags with big possibilities to customization.

Work

We decided to take the same "sleep approach" like last year when it worked :) Lot's of discussing, coding, talking and writing :) But it was worth it!

Finish

We did it! it was very close because we have finished uploading video and link to it around 3minutes to deadline ;) But we manage to do it ! Success tastes amazing :)!

Hi all!

In this post I would like to share with you my memories from lat SUGCON which was placed in Berlin, Germany.

At the beginning I would like to say it was one of the best time I've ever had in my professional 'career' ;) Hence, my description could be a little bit subjective :) , but in other hand it should be a better motivation for those, who haven't attend in this conference to change it and join!

First of all,

Berlin

It was my first visit in this city. The main building which dominates over others is Berlin TV Tower, besides that I was surprised what a beautiful old town there is, so small stroll was a pure pleasure. Just take a look on pictures below.

Conference

It has started like good party in the club. I felt this power in the air.

It's good point to notice that before the conference has started, we had an opportunity to pass Sitecore Certification exam on the newest Sitecore 9 version. That was 1st success during that days, new Sitecore 9 certificate.

Also I would like to congratulates for the organizers for whole services like catering, which were on really top level. Perfect job guys !

Hard to cover all topic were available during this two days, we can mention GraphQL with JSS team, Marketing Automation by Alexi Vershalovich and of course presentation about SIX by Robert Senktas, my good mate from SUGPL community and same company as well :)

Hackathon 2018 - Winners Announcements

One of the best moments in my life! Nobody knows before that time who won Sitecore Hackathon this year, so there were some hopes, some tension in the air. Akshay Sura has come on the stage and after little kick of he announced that this year Sitecore Hackathon won... LasVegans!!! What means, my team!

I would like to thanks my partners, Tomasz Juranek and Wojciech Urban who has this motivation, power and trust to build together solution that win competition this year!

One more time, Thanks guys !

Afterparty

After all of peresentations, I have still felt endless joy.  Attendees could met at hotel lobby (which was really good and huge) and what we did.

Great time, great people ! :)

Who still haven't been on SUGCON or is wondering is it worth to go, I definitely recommend to take bag, put some clothes, book tickets and meet together in London in 2019.

Hope we will see next year !

I could be a part this great adventure one more time. With all gathered experience during Sitecore Hackathon 2017 I joined with friends on Sitecore Hackathon 2018. What feelings afterwards? Enjoy, challenge and passion! That was the same power as last year or even better!

Team

Last year I was a part of team called "Error 404". It was an amazing team, so in this year we decided to continue our together work with one exception. We will change our name to "LasVegans". In that way new called team has the same squad as an year ago:

me, Wojtek Urban and Tomasz Juranek.

Topic

We have chosen "XConnect Module" category. Our idea was to build multi-functional module with external integration which will deliver notifications for end user with the air quality value in their area. We wanted to use xConnect od course, Marketing automations, Geolocation, email sending and whatever can be used there :)

Work

In this year we have taken another approach and we have slept night before much longer to be more rest than a year ago. Fortunately it worked and our crisis came much more later ;) Of course everyone was aware of the sacrifice that he need to make, but enjoy, fun and challenge were bigger then fatigue.

Finish

We finished our work 20 minutes before deadline, much progress than few minutes a year ago :) Our AirPolution Smog Fighter has been finished. We hope that it will help people to life more healthy!

So much fun, so exiting time, I've wrote that it were very tough 24 hours, but this feeling after the whole day is priceless! I really enjoy that that second time and of course I'm looking forward to meet each of you in next year on Sitecore Hackathon!
